The deal

Sila Services, a home services platform with more than 40 brands across the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Midwest, has acquired NEOH, an Ohio group built by Chad Simpson and Steve VanHorn over more than 15 years. Terms were not disclosed.

The deal brings six businesses at once: Simpson Heating & Air (now Simpson Salute Heating & Air in New Philadelphia, with more than 70 employees), Bonsky Heating & Cooling in Uniontown, founded in 1927, Best Heating & Air Solutions, Ultra Clean Duct Cleaning, Coblentz Plumbing Solutions and Trade Masters Academy, the group's training school.

Sila is majority-owned by Goldman Sachs Alternatives, which agreed to buy its stake from Morgan Stanley Capital Partners in late 2024. Sila's management kept a significant minority stake.

The V2 take

This is what selling a mini-platform looks like. NEOH's founders spent years combining brands, building a trade school and creating a regional group, then sold the whole thing to a bigger platform. Buyers pay for that kind of work because it saves them years of their own. The training academy stands out: a pipeline of technicians is one of the hardest things for any buyer to build.

What this means if you own an HVAC company

  • Combining can pay. Owners who merge a few local brands first may sell for more than they would separately.
  • Training is value. A way to hire and develop technicians is something buyers can't easily buy anywhere else.
  • Old names still matter. A brand founded in 1927 carries local trust that new platforms want to keep.
