The deal
Founders Home Service Group, a platform owned by Kompass Kapital, has acquired AAA City Plumbing, which serves Rock Hill, S.C., Charlotte, N.C., and surrounding areas. Terms were not disclosed.
Founder Dean Inkelaar started the business more than three decades ago and sold it to Founders. He said he was confident the new owner will continue to take good care of the company's employees and customers.
The seller's advisor, Viking Mergers & Acquisitions, said the process drew hundreds of buyer inquiries and 14 purchase offers. Those figures come from the advisor's own announcement.
Fourteen offers for a local plumbing company shows how much buyer demand there is right now. The real lesson is that competition only happens when someone creates it. A single buyer calling you directly sets the terms. A run process puts several buyers against each other, which is how owners get the best price and the terms they care about.
What this means if you own a plumbing company
- Competition sets price. One offer is a conversation. Several offers are a market.
- Read advisor claims carefully. Inquiry counts come from the seller's side. What matters is the final terms.
- Protect your people. Owners can make employee treatment part of how they choose a buyer.
