The deal
Southern Home Services, a consolidator of residential home service brands across the Southeast, Midwest and Mid-Atlantic, has acquired Blazer Heating, Air & Plumbing of Richmond, Va. Terms were not disclosed.
Blazer has provided residential HVAC and plumbing service since 1989. It keeps its local name and team, and Bobby Broyles stays on as general manager to lead the business through its next phase. Southern says it plans to help Blazer grow across the greater Richmond area.
Blazer was advised by Marriott & Co. as financial advisor and Williams Mullen as legal counsel; Nelson Mullins represented Southern.
Note the seller had its own financial advisor. Buyers like Southern do deals every month, with experienced teams on their side of the table. Owners usually sell once. Having an advisor who knows the buyers, runs a competitive process and catches problems in the fine print is how you level that playing field.
What this means if you own an HVAC or plumbing company
- Consolidators enter markets by buying trusted locals. A respected name in a growing metro is an ideal entry point for a buyer.
- Keeping your team matters to buyers. The general manager staying on gives the buyer continuity and gives employees confidence.
- Get advised. The buyer will have experienced counsel. Your side should too.
