The deal
American Service Partners, a newly formed residential HVAC, plumbing and electrical platform headquartered in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., announced its launch on Oct. 7. It was built by acquiring brands from two existing groups, Platform Partner Holdings and Air Today Holdings, and funded by a capital raise led by South Florida private equity firm Exuma Capital Partners. Price and terms were not disclosed.
Three anchor brands lead the platform: A-One Refrigeration in Washington's Tri-Cities (in business since 1980), John Stevenson Plumbing, Heating & Air in San Diego (since 1990) and Howze Plumbing in Dallas–Fort Worth (since 1995). The company says it now operates in more than 15 states.
CEO Landon Brewer, who has led Platform Partner Holdings since 2022 and previously held leadership roles at several national consolidators, will run the platform. Its stated model keeps local owners running their own brands while the platform supplies shared back-office services, technology and performance tracking.
Notice the pitch: this platform is selling itself to owners as the opposite of a quick flip. That tells you how competitive buying has become. Buyers now have to win sellers over on culture and autonomy, not just price. Ask every buyer the same questions: Who will I report to? What happens to my brand name? What's your plan for the business in five years? The answers separate partners from flippers.
What this means if you own a home services company
- Longevity sells. All three anchor brands have operated for 30 to 45 years. A trusted local name is an asset buyers pay for.
- New platforms need anchors. A platform that is just launching is looking for established brands to build around, which can strengthen your hand.
- “Keep your brand” is a negotiable promise. Get it in writing, along with which decisions stay local.
