The deal
Rollins, Inc., the publicly traded parent of Orkin, has acquired Romex Pest Control of Pleasant Grove, Utah. Terms were not disclosed.
Romex was founded in 2016 and serves residential and commercial customers in four states with more than 200 employees. It grew through door-to-door marketing and data-driven decisions and is ranked among the top 40 companies in the PCT 100.
Romex keeps its brand. Rollins described the company as an entry point into new markets, and Romex COO Sam Crossley said customers will see the same faces.
Romex is only ten years old. Buyers don't require decades of history when a company has a repeatable way to win customers, and Romex's door-to-door sales engine is exactly that. Strategic buyers like Rollins will also pay for a strong team and brand they can use to enter new markets.
What this means if you own a pest control company
- Growth engines get paid. A proven, repeatable way to add customers can matter more than company age.
- Strategic buyers keep brands. Rollins kept the Romex name to keep customers and use it to enter new markets.
- Size opens doors. Two hundred employees and four states put Romex on a national buyer's radar.
